RAISING UP HUMANS WITH DIGINITY

About Human Rescue Albuquerque

Having faced homelessness himself, Richard Dafter prayed for an option for the unhoused. The answer was Human Rescue Albuquerque. Using the answer to his prayer, he got a domain name, set up a blog, and used Gemini AI to write the blog posts and create the images.

Summary

Mission: To provide immediate, sustainable housing security by equipping individuals with the tools and land necessary to rebuild their lives in a rural setting.

The Problem: Traditional urban housing solutions are often overstretched, expensive, and disconnected from nature, leading to a cycle of dependency.

The Solution: A decentralized network of “Micro-Homesteads.” We provide the 5 Pillars of Stability: Land, Shelter Materials, Sanitation, Power, and Nutrition.

The Five Pillars

Each participant is assigned a small plot of land (0.25 to 0.5 acres) and a “Rescue Kit” consisting of:

  • Building Materials: A weather-tight tiny cabin shell or a heavy-duty insulated wall tent platform to ensure immediate safety.

  • Composting Toilets: Eco-friendly, low-maintenance sanitation that requires no grid connection.

  • Solar Outdoor Showers: Gravity-fed systems with solar heating bags for hygiene.

  • Small Land Plots: Space for a personal garden, providing a sense of ownership and therapeutic activity.

  • Food Budget: A 6-month stipend for staples while the participant transitions into the local workforce or establishes their own food source.

  • Target Population: Individuals experiencing housing instability, veterans seeking quiet environments, and those looking to exit the “urban poverty trap.”

  • Rural Revitalization: By placing these sites near declining rural towns, we bring a new workforce and consumer base to local economies.

  • Sustainability: Our model uses a closed-loop system (composting, solar) that minimizes the carbon footprint of traditional housing developments.

Funding

We are in the planning process and currently praying about sources of funding. We would prefer to be fully funded by donations, gifts, and patrons who see the vision and benefits of what we are hoping to do.
